1. Privacy Policy
Introduction
FlashFeed is an RSS-based news reader developed and published by Red-F Studios. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how data is handled, and your rights. By using FlashFeed you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
- No Personal Data: FlashFeed does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, device identifiers, or other personal identifiers.
- Notification Data: The app fetches a configuration file or feed update periodically when you open the app to schedule local notifications. This data is processed and stored locally on your device.
- No Accounts: The app does not provide account creation, authentication, or sign-in features.
- No Analytics / Crash Reporting: FlashFeed does not include analytics SDKs or crash-reporting tools (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry).
- Local Storage Only: The app stores onboarding flags, notification preferences, and user bookmarks using local storage (SharedPreferences/Hive). This data is not transmitted to any server.
How the App Works & Background Processing
FlashFeed fetches publicly available RSS/Atom XML feeds directly from publisher servers over the network. The app displays headlines, summaries, and links; clicking an item opens or links to the original publisher.
Notifications: To provide timely updates, the app initiates a background fetch process once per day, triggered when you open the app. This process retrieves the latest data to schedule notifications for the current day. All notification processing happens locally on your device in the background to ensure a seamless experience.
Data Sharing
FlashFeed does not share, sell, or rent any user data. No information is transmitted to Red-F Studios servers or to third parties. All user data stored by the app remains on the device unless the user manually exports it.
Permissions
The app requests the following Android permissions to function correctly:
android.permission.INTERNET— required to fetch RSS feeds and notification data.android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS— (Android 13+) required to display local news alerts and updates scheduled by the app.
No storage, camera, location, or contacts permissions are used by the app.
Target Audience
FlashFeed is primarily intended for users 18 years and older. However, the app is open to general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Retention & Security
Local data (bookmarks, settings, notification cache) is retained on the device. Uninstalling the app will remove that data. Because no personal data is sent to servers, there is no remote data retention by Red-F Studios.
